Actor Audition Notice for IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists

IGNITE! is a festival dedicated to supporting, mentoring and presenting emerging artists of all disciplines. IGNITE! allows artists to embrace risks in a supportive environment while providing resources, a bridge to the professional arts community, and meaningful opportunities for collaboration and community building with their peers.

Audition Date: Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 6:30 – 9:30pm
Location: Evergreen Studios (1709 8th Ave. NE)

We are booking interested actors into half-hour slots though the actual audition will be a shorter portion of this time (approx. 10 minutes).

Interested actors should email with your two most preferred time slots (e.g. 6:30 / 7:00 / 7:30 / 8:00pm). We will do our best to accommodate your preference but spots will be determined on a first come first serve basis.

Actors are asked to prepare a monologue one to three minutes long.

Cold reading material will be provided at the audition and short physical improvisations will follow.

There are two shows auditioning for actors for IGNITE! Festival 2017. Actors wishing to audition for only one should state the show upon submitting for an audition.

All That’s Left

Written by Laura Couch
Directed by Jay Northcott

We will be casting a total of six characters. All characters in this play are to identify as part of the LGBTQA community. People of all racial, ethnic, gender expressions and identities will be considered for all roles.

A Millenial’s Guide to Dating in the 21st Century

Devised and directed by Erinn Watson and A.J. Baragar

This is a physical based comedy that uses masks and will be movement focused. Casting for two roles in this piece—one character representing a male, and one representing a female. There will be very little spoken dialogue that is not pre-recorded. The actors must be able to clearly communicate action and emotions through the use of their bodies.

The cold reading will be as follows—actors will be asked to mime a simple task (such as washing the dishes or buying pop from a vending machine), along with a movement “style” (e.g. sharp, dainty, manly).

No mask will be used for the audition.

Auditions open to all non-equity actors.
