Carma Developers LP, in conjunction with the Public Art Project Manager, is seeking a Request for Proposal from artists with demonstrated experience in the field of public art, ability to work collaboratively and work within set budgets and construction schedules.

Cranston is located in a new community that was formerly agricultural land south and west of the intersection of Deerfoot Trail and Highway 22, in southeast Calgary. It has been reshaped by the developers of the land to embrace both a Prairie and a French Country vision with many green spaces and a preservation of a striking natural river valley view via the escarpment. The area is meant to have an upscale elegance with plenty of green spaces and access to the river valley.

The public art will provide a visually engaging experience for the users of one central green space of this new community. The public art will enhance the surroundings of this green space in the community through a targeted depiction of the vision of the community.

The Project Manager seeks an artist to:
Lead the development of a major public art project at the “Cranston Art Park”, a key location and one of major gateways into the community and regional pathway beyond.

Total budget for public art and design is $21000.00 CDN. Deadline for submissions is September 5, 2008 at MST 16:30 hours.

The Edmonton Arts Council, on behalf of the City of Edmonton, invites all
Canadian and international artists to submit proposals for a public artwork
at the South Transit Garage. The artwork proposal should reflect relevance
to contemporary art practices. This open competition is held in accordance
with the City of Edmonton policy “Percent for Art to Provide and Encourage
Art in Public Areas” (C458B).

Budget: $80,000 CAD (maximum, all inclusive)
Deadline for Submissions: 4:30 PM Friday, August 29, 2008
Installation: Fall 2009

Budget: $51,200 CAD (maximum, all inclusive)
Deadline for Submissions: 4:30 PM Friday, August 29, 2008
Installation: March 2010
