Reminder: Build the Momentum of Calgary’s Arts Scene on June 5th

Join the movement! Since May of 2012, Calgary Arts Development has facilitated a yearlong, three-phase process to create a comprehensive strategy for arts development and investment in Calgary. Through the process, hundreds of artists, arts administrators and interested citizens have contributed to crafting a direction for the arts in our city. Made possible in part through funding from Calgary 2012, the resulting Arts Plan will be a major legacy of Calgary's year as a Cultural Capital of Canada.

At 9:30am on June 5, 2013 at City Hall (Engineering Traditions Committee Room, 800 Macleod Trail SE), Calgary Arts Development will present Arts Plan progress to date at a public meeting of The City of Calgary’s Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services. Citizens can attend to show their support and have the opportunity to speak for up to five minutes about their vision for the arts in Calgary. (For more information about communicating with City Council and its Committees, please refer to this document.) We need to come together as a community and collectively show our support for an integrated arts strategy for Calgary: the more people we have, the greater a statement we'll make.

Calgary’s Arts Plan is being built by Calgarians and we have met hundreds of arts supporters through the process. June 5 is an historic opportunity to shape the future of the arts in our city and it is your right to have your voice heard. Show up and make a difference!
