  1. How do I know if my project qualifies as a 'Special Project'?
We request that all perspective applicants contact Holly Simon, Community Investment Officer at Calgary Arts Development by calling 403-264-5330 to ensure your project is eligible. You can also email holly.simon@calgaryartsdevelopment.com.
  2. What are some of the special project grants that have been funded in the past?
Click here for a list of all the special project grants allocated in 2007.
  3. When can I expect to be notified of the results of my application?
It takes 8-10 weeks to process all applications. You will be notified by mail. You can call the office any time to ask about the process.
  4. What is the process for granting decisions?
Calgary Arts Development facilitates an arms length process for assessing grant applications. The assessment panel is made up of community members and artistic peers who will assess the applications competitively using the assessment criteria (available for download here) who then make final recommendations for the investments.
  5. When can I expect to receive payment if my application is successful?
Upon notification of a successful application, you will be asked to complete an agreement form agreeing to spend the funds on the project proposed. If you are an individual, collective, or ad-hoc group, you will be asked for your Social Insurance Number so we can issue you a T4-A slip.
  6. How many times can I apply for a Special Project Grant?
You can only receive one Special Project Grant every two years as of January 2008. There is no limit to how many times you can apply. You will not be eligible to apply if you have any outstanding final reports from previous special project grants.
  7. What are my reporting requirements?
If you received a Special Project Grant January 2008 or later, download your reporting requirements here. If you received a Special Project Grant in 2006 or 2007 call the office to receive a copy of your reporting requirements.
  8. What if I am an arts organization receiving an operating grant? Am I still eligible to apply?
For 2008 you are eligible if your project is outside of your regular operations which are already supported by the operating grant program. You are advised to call the office to confirm your eligibility. Details about the 2009 Special Project Program will be available in December, 2008.

If you have a question and it was not answered on this page, please contact Holly Simon at 403.264.5330 ext. 109 or holly.simon@calgaryartsdevlopment.com.
