Flamenco troupe heats up Calgary this week

One of Canada’s most exciting and innovative new flamenco companies from Montréal, La Otra Orilla, heats up Calgary in From Spain to Calgary via Montréal, December 10 and 11 at the Arrata Opera Centre.

Comprised of dancer Myriam Allard and singer Hedi ‘El Moro’ Graja, La Otra Orilla offers audiences a repertoire of traditional flamenco song and dance refined by years of training and performance both in Spain and Canada.
 
Performing for two nights in Calgary with an additional show in Edmonton on December 12, La Otra Orillia has also been working the local flamenco community this past week, offering dance and singing workshops.

Also in the show is Calgary flamenco dance artist Rosanna Terracciano, who teamed up with her sister Graziella, a local flamenco producer now based in London, to produce the show.
 
Rosanna’s credits include co-curating and performing in a showcase of flamenco and contemporary works for a show entitled Cross Over at the Fluid Movement Arts Festival, as well as inclusion in the Dancers’ Studio West 2009-2010 season.

Other collaborators in the show include guitarists Kraig Adams and David Matyas, percussionist Robin Tufts and Graziella Terracciano on the palmas.
