The Happening Festival of New Music and Media 2010, running until January 29 at the University of Calgary, highlights established and emerging new media practices in sound and music, including a live music concert with participants from around the world.NetTets: A Network Music Concert connects collaborators from China, New Zealand, Greece, Singapore, Canada and the U.S through Syneme, the studio/lab of the Canada Research Chair in Telemedia Arts. The tech savvy festival also offers lectures, roundtable discussions, daily video screenings of media documentaries and media-opera works and a sound installation by University of Calgary artist/professor Jean-René Leblanc.
Ensembles from the University of Calgary will be featured in Possible Orchestras, including the University Orchestra, The UCalgary String Quartet, and New Music Ensemble, with a guest appearance by the Alberta College of Art and Design Laptop Ensemble.

featuring live audio diffusion of new work by composers David Berezan, Darren Copeland, David Eagle and Hildegard Westerkamp.
"It's a festival of new sound and technology," says Dr. Laurie Redford, instructor of Composition, Theory and Music Technology at the University of Calgary Department of Music, "and it may be an
entirely new discovery of music and new technology for some people."
