DEMOS, a think tank out of the UK, self titled "the Think Tank for every day democracy" recently published a Green Paper and accompanying Podcast titled " So, What *Do* You Do?" which looks at how the creative industries work and how policy can support these industries.

I am specifically interested in how we, as policy makers, understand creativity. Calgary Arts Development has looked closely at cultural institutions both as a grantor and through our work on arts spaces. We have a stronger understanding of the role of these institutions and the organizations that they serve but this is by no means a complete picture of the creative industries. The question of what those involved as artists and creators in the creative industries *do* at the individual level and the type of investment needed to support this doing is one that all policy makers and community investors interested in the future of this city need to ask.
