Audio only: MP3 (right click and 'save link as' to download)
The Canadian Conference of the Arts stopped in Calgary on November 4, 2008 as part of a national tour to consult with the arts sector and its supporters about how the CCA and the sector as a whole can work to better position the sector in public discourse and on the political agenda. A group of artists, cultural workers and arts champions participated in a regional forum hosted by the CCA, and later that evening the CCA's national director, Alain Pineau, delivered a short speech and engaged in dialogue with leaders from the arts and corporate sectors. The video of that speech is available here. For more information about the regional forums being hosted by the Canadian Conference of the Arts.

Where are we now?
- Posted by Terry Rock on November 10th, 2008
The past two months at Calgary Arts Development have been among the most intense we’ve experienced in the 3+ years of our existence. So much to do, so little time, such big stakes. If you’ve been wondering where we are, or why we haven’t had much to say on our blogs, it’s because we’re moving so fast on so many things, that we really haven’t had the time. I’m happy to say that we’re nearly through this difficult period, and I have some news to report. read more »

15 visionary arts space projects proposed for Calgary
15 arts spaces projects will be recommended to Calgary City Council as strong opportunities for the future of Calgary later this fall as a result of a comprehensive arts spaces strategy being led by Calgary Arts Development in partnership with The City of Calgary.
In 2007, Calgary Arts Development completed research on the current state of cultural space for the arts in Calgary, including the construction of a cultural space inventory and extensive engagement with over 350 citizens and 125 arts organizations, as well as benchmarking across North America and the collection and analysis of international case studies. The conclusion of this research identified Signature Flagship Projects, Arts Incubators, and Community Arts Facilities as top priorities. A comprehensive strategy was developed to meet these key needs, including the Arts Spaces Investment Process (ASIP), an open and transparent process to recommend cultural space projects for municipal investment through the City of Calgary's Culture, Parks & Recreation Infrastructure Investment Plan (CPRIIP). read more »
NOTE: These projects are RECOMMENDATIONS ONLY. Funding for the recommended projects will be determined at a later date by the City of Calgary's through their CPRIIP process.
