Arts for All 2014

Calgary Arts Development is pleased to announce the recipients of the Arts for All Program’s second intake of the Greater Forest Lawn Project Grant as well as congratulate visual artist Deng Duot for receiving the Greater Forest Lawn Artist Award, a $5,000 award intended to support at least two months of living expenses for the recipient to devote concentrated time to artistic work.

In July 2013, Calgary Arts Development and the International Avenue Business Revitalization Zone (INT AVE BRZ) partnered to pilot the Program, which invests in arts activity outside of the city’s downtown core, with a focus on east Calgary. The first community to host the Program is Greater Forest Lawn (Forest Lawn, Forest Heights, Penbrook Meadows, Erin Woods, Albert Park, Dover and Southview).

The recipients of the second intake of the Greater Forest Lawn Project Grant are:

  • Antyx Community Arts Society, Play on Wheels ($10,000)
  • Clifton Manor, Forest Lawn in Story and Song ($1,025)
  • Diversity Initiatives for New Immigrants, My Poetic Application to Life Skills ($4,715)
  • Janice Fletcher, Portraits on The Avenue ($4,450)
  • The Freed Artist Society, ReFreshed Forest Lawn ($9,410)
  • Jenna Rodgers, The Greater Forest Lawn Playwrights Lab ($10,000)
  • Silvera for Seniors Valleyview Community, Family Gala ($1,900)

The recipients of the first intake in October 2013 were:

  • Calgary Fireworks Festival o/a GlobalFest, GlobalFest Urban Arts Program ($8,905)
  • Green Fools Theatre, Greater Forest Lawn Social Circus ($16,885)
  • International Avenue Mural Society, West African & Italian Murals ($15,000)
  • Phyllis Wheaton, Forest Lawn in Story and Song ($7,710)

To celebrate all of the recipients, Calgary Arts Development and the International Avenue BRZ invite you to join us on August 26, 2014 from 10:30am to 12:00pm at artBOX on 17E (1807 42nd St. SE) to meet some of the artists and hear about their projects. Light refreshments will be provided.
