CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Nominations are currently being accepted for the Dean Ott/Debbie Boult Award. Deadline for Submission: July 5, 2013.
This annual award has been created to honour a member of Calgary's theatre community who has made a major contribution or significant achievement in the area of technical production in Calgary. This award is given in recognition of Dean Ott and Debbie Boult. Throughout their lives, Dean and Debbie continually strove for excellence and were regarded as a benchmark for professionalism. The recipient of this award will reflect Dean and Debbie's passion for their craft.
Criteria for nomination:
Must be a Calgary resident who has continuously striven for excellence in his/her craft;
Will have the qualities of professionalism, cooperation, self-discipline and strong work ethic;
May be awarded for an outstanding season of work, individual achievement, or a sustained contribution to the community;
Areas of specialization may include, but are not restricted to: stage management, stage carpentry, production management, running crew, wardrobe, lighting or sound technician.
Each nominee submission must include the following: (1) The nominee’s full address, e-mail (optional) and telephone number. (2) A one-page letter explaining why the nominee should receive this award. (3) Supporting documentation to a maximum of 10 pages (optional). This could include letters of support, newspaper articles, etc. (No videos will be accepted, please do not send original documents as materials submitted cannot be returned)
The recipient will be chosen from among the nominees by a jury consisting of past recipients plus other industry professionals, as selected by the Betty Mitchell Awards Steering Committee. The successful nominee will be recognized at the Betty Mitchell Awards, August 26, 2013, which celebrate Calgary's professional theatre community.
Previous recipients have included: Tom McCarthy, Colin McCracken, Monty Schneider, Dianne Goodman, Brad & Ellen Leavitt, Lance Olson, Tracey Hooper, Darcy Foggo, Ian Wilson, Brian Beaulieu, Terri Gillis, Wes Jenkins, Susan McNair Reid, Kira Campbell, and Riley Miljan.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Duval Lang Theatre for Young Audiences Award. Deadline for Submission: July 5, 2013.
This annual award has been created to honor an individual or group of individuals who have made an outstanding contribution or significant achievement in the field of Theatre for Young Audiences in Calgary. This award is made possible through the collaborative efforts of Quest Theatre and the Betty Mitchell Awards and is supported by a fund established in 2008 at the Calgary Foundation by a group of generous donors in recognition of Duval Lang.
Duval Lang was the founding Artistic Director of Quest Theatre and spent 25 years making theatre accessible, meaningful and enjoyable to young audiences. Along the way he has nurtured many emerging artists who have been inspired by his influence. Duval’s dedication to his craft has, and will continue to have, a significant impact in the field of Theatre for Young Audiences.
Criteria for nomination:
May be an individual or group of individuals (but not an organization);
Must be a Calgary resident who has continuously striven for excellence in his/her craft;
Has demonstrated excellence in the field of Theatre for Young Audiences;
May be awarded for an outstanding season of work, individual achievement, or a sustained contribution to the community.
Each nominee submission must include the following: (1) The nominee’s full address, e-mail (optional) and telephone number. (2) A one-page letter explaining why the nominee should receive this award. (3) Supporting documentation to a maximum of 10 pages (optional). 2009 was the first presentation of the Duval Lang Theatre for Young Audiences Award. Past award recipients have been Lana Skauge, Karen Johnson-Diamond, Daniel Hall, and Kathleen Foreman.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Greg Bond Memorial Award. Deadline for Submission: July 5, 2013.
This annual award is intended to honour the outstanding achievement by an individual—either for this season or for accumulated dedication or achievement—in musical theatre in Calgary.
The award is made possible through the Toronto Community Foundation, and is presented by the Bond Family in memory of their son, Greg (1954–1989). Greg studied and worked in musical theatre across Canada, from Banff to Charlottetown as well as in Australia. His life was marked by a drive for professionalism, a talent for composition, and a desire to continually study, create and perform. He will be remembered for his positive attitude and his remarkable ability to give and engender respect from everyone whom his life touched.
Criteria for nomination:
Must be a Calgary resident who has continuously striven for excellence in his/her craft;
Will have contributed to the profile of musical theatre in Calgary;
Will have the qualities of: cooperation, self-discipline and work ethic;
Areas of specialization may include, but are not restricted to: performance, musical direction, education, choreography, composition, instrumentalist;
Is a professional in his/her field, and viewed as such by his/her peers.
Each nominee submission must include the following: (1) The nominee’s full address, e-mail (optional) and telephone number. (2) A one-page letter explaining why the nominee should receive this award. (3) Supporting documentation to a maximum of 10 pages (optional). This could include letters of support, newspaper articles, etc. (No videos will be accepted, please do not send original documents as materials submitted cannot be returned)
The recipient will be chosen by a jury consisting of past recipients plus other industry professionals, as selected by the Betty Mitchell Awards Steering Committee. The successful nominee will receive a $1000 cash award and be recognized at the Betty Mitchell Awards, August 26, 2013, which celebrate Calgary’s professional theatre community.

Lougheed House is seeking proposals from individual artists, groups and organizations interested in holding art, crafts, photographic, artefact or history based exhibitions in the Lougheed House Gallery, located in the ballroom on the lower level of the house at 707, 13 Ave SW, Calgary, T2R 0K8.
All proposals are reviewed by a panel and chosen on the basis of:
• Artistic quality, taste, originality and craftsmanship
• Historical focus or theme of the exhibition, and
• Suitability to the mandate of the Lougheed House Conservation Society

Franco Festival Calgary is a celebration of many Francophone cultures, from Africa to Europe, from Asia to South America through music, dance, food, crafts and many other aspects that demonstrate the magnitude and diversity of Canadian Heritage.
FFC is offering some great opportunities for food vendors and craftsmen at Eau Claire Plaza located in Calgary's downtown cultural district. We are also offering space for community art organizations and non-for-profit groups, chosen at the discretion of the FFC Organization Committee.

The Alberta Printmakers’ Society and Artist Proof Gallery invites all artists incorporating printmedia techniques within their practice to apply for our 2013 Juried Gallery Program.
Description:
The Alberta Printmakers’ Society programs 6 exhibitions per year in the Artist Proof Gallery, located in the Inglewood/Ramsay community of Calgary, Alberta. The gallery programming is determined by a selection committee and is based on the quality of submissions. A/P provides a number of benefits for accepted proposals including: a personalized exhibition text and event invitation, CARFAC fees, and one-way shipping. All accepted artists are also invited to give a public lecture about their work as part of A/P’s Engraving Culture Speaker Series.
Gallery Mandate:
The Artist Proof Gallery is an artist-run gallery located adjacent to the Alberta Printmakers’ Society studio. The A/P Gallery Program exhibits innovative, contemporary, print-based art produced by emerging, mid-career and established artists. The Artist Proof Gallery shows regional, national and international artists working in a range of concepts and techniques. Our goal is to provide opportunities for the artistic and public communities to experience the diversity of printmedia art as a contemporary and vital artistic medium.
Application requirements:
Interested applicants must submit the following:
Ten numbered & labeled JPEG digital images on CD. MUST be PC and Mac compatible.
Corresponding digital image list indicating the size, title of work, media and date (PDF or .doc file format, included on CD)
Artist’s Statement (PDF or .doc file format, included on CD)
Curriculum Vitae up to 4 pages (PDF or .doc file format, included on CD)
Written exhibition proposal (PDF or .doc file format, included on CD), please refer to attached gallery map
Completed application form, printed hard copy

We are seeking to present 2 or 3 dimensional artwork including:
• Drawings, paintings and limited edition prints
• Artwork created from clay, glass, fiber, wood, paper, metal and/or other mixed media
Festival Date: 29th Annual New Orleans themed event with approximately 35,000 visitors. August 11, 2013

Total Artists: There will be 6 artist’s total exhibiting in this space together in a gallery style exhibition.

BEPPU PROJECT is a non-profit art organization based in Beppu, a city in Oita Prefecture in the South of Japan, known as one of the world’s greatest hot spring areas.
Founded in April 2005, BEPPU PROJECT is running the the Beppu Contemporary Art Festival, ‘Mixed Bathing World’ (2009, 2012). BEPPU PROJECT is holding an artist in residence program and created a wide network of residency spaces for artists in Beppu with the aim of supporting artists and contemporary art creation. Through various activities BEPPU PROJECT has implemented various activities such as the introduction and promotion of art, developing human resources in the art sector, inventing a new market and developing cultural infrastructures.

GRFF encourages all filmmakers – student, amateur, professional – to submit to their annual competition.
The SHORT Shorts Competition is a celebration of short films in two categories: Waterloo Region and Cross-Canada. It provides aspiring filmmakers support and exposure of their 15-minute or less films through the hosting of a networking and shorts-award event with judging by film professionals, the screening of their film in a festival setting and the opportunity to win significant cash and product prizes.
