We are looking for artists to participate in the following art demo events.

First Thursday – Art’s Alive - September 6th
New Works by Swirl’s resident artists and guests
Featuring live demos from 5:00pm-9:00pm by our Swirl Community of artists
We will have space available in the old Axis space, the main floor corridor and on the lower level and in Swirl Fine Art.

Artwalk Saturday, September 15th & Sunday, September 16th
Swirl Fine Art and Design is participating in Artwalk, an opportunity to visit Calgary galleries and artist studios to discover the quality and variety of artists' work available in Calgary.
Come meet and watch Swirl resident artists and our guests as they paint, sculpt, carve and forge live. There will be live demos and mini workshops throughout the day on Saturday, September 15th, only.

There are lots of exciting things going on at Swirl Fine Art for September and I am trying to get organized and confirm who will be involved for these events. I have advertisements going in Swerve, Where Magazine and Galleries West. I am also planning on having Shaw TV film the event. Please confirm if you are interested in participating Thursday, September 6th and or Saturday September 15th as soon as possible, so that I can get your names into the advertisements. I would like to discuss table/easel requirements, commission rates, promotional materials etc. with each of you, please call or email me after reading the notes below. If you have an idea for a mini workshop or demo, please let me know right away so that we can schedule a time and get the information up on the Artwalk website, on my blog etc.
I will also be inviting artists that are not currently in the gallery. If you have any friends who may be interested in participating, please have them email with a submission by Friday, August 24th.

Notes about the event:
The primary goal of the event is for the public to watch artists painting live – it is not an art sale.
Artists are responsible to bring their own easels, art materials, supplies and display materials.
Please advise me if you would like to bring some display easels, tables, stands etc. to display and sell your work – this is not the primary focus of the event, but it is a good idea to bring promotional materials, portfolios and a few items to display and sell.
All sales will go through the gallery and a 30% commission will be retained by the gallery for sales made that day, a 20% commission will go to the gallery for all commissions derived from that day’s event.
Priority space will be given to Swirl resident artists and remaining space will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
If you received this email and you are represented in another space in Art Central, find out about joining in the festivities and setting up outside Axis, Stoneworks or artsASTRAY. (Swirl Commissions will not apply and sales will go through the appropriate galleries).
If you have not displayed work at Swirl Fine Art, please submit 3 images, an artist statement and CV. I will contact you.
