Career Opportunity: Calgary Arts Development - President & CEO
- Posted March 1st, 2013
Calgary Arts Development plays a leadership role in realizing the potential of arts in Calgary. As the city's designated arts development authority, we are a central hub that learns about, promotes, connects, advocates for, and leads strategic initiatives in the arts to animate Calgary as a vibrant cultural centre. Calgary Arts Development allocates municipal funding for the arts provided by the City of Calgary through granting programs that support operations and innovation for more than 190 arts organizations in Calgary. Created by City Council in 2005 as a result of Calgary’s Civic Arts Policy, CADA is unique in Canada as the nation’s only municipal arts development authority. Visit CalgaryArtsDevelopment.com for more information on our activities and initiatives.
Our city is perched at the edge of a dynamic, exciting crossroads in the arts sector. In June of this year, CADA will present City Council with an integrated Arts Development Strategy. Spearheaded by CADA in a public consultation and vision-setting process, and by working closely with artists, organizations, institutions and key supporting stakeholder groups over the past year, Calgary’s Arts Plan is a long-term strategic plan for the development of the arts sector.
Able to turn a strategy into action, you will be the extraordinary communicator and passionate leader to take Calgary to the next level. Citizens and key stakeholders have spoken, and now you will lead with strong fiscal management, inspirational motivation and sound strategic thinking as the city embraces a new vision of itself through the arts. This role requires the ability to navigate in the context of the municipal government, as well as knowledge of, and an insatiable curiosity about all artistic disciplines. You will demonstrate effective advocacy skills and interpersonal capabilities. You look forward to working collaboratively with City Council, City of Calgary staff, the CADA Board of Directors and staff, arts organizations, cSPACE Projects, other orders of government and other partners.
