Vote for the 2017 Be Local Awards

The fifth annual Be Local Awards kick off this week and you can help REAP the benefits by casting your vote.

A fun way to showcase local businesses, from August 8 to October 31, 2017 you can vote daily for one of 10 featured businesses that week. Just click on your favourite business at belocal.org to show your support, then watch for 10 new businesses to appear each Sunday at midnight.

Made up of 150 members, REAP stands for Respect for the Earth and All People and is a not-for-profit association for locally owned businesses that care about the community and the environment.

Our commitment to Indigenous reconciliation, racial equity, disability justice, and gender and sexual diversity.

We acknowledge that the land we gather on, Mohkinsstsis, is the ancestral territory of the Siksikaitsitapi — the Blackfoot people — comprising the Siksika, Kainai and Piikani Nations, as well as Treaty 7 signatories, the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Îyârhe Nakoda Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney First Nations. Today this land is home to the Metis Nations 5 and 6 as well as many First Nations and Inuit peoples from across Turtle Island.

We acknowledge that there has been art, music, dance, storytelling and ceremony on this land since time immemorial and it is in the spirit of this land and its people that we do our work.
