MacEwan University

Deadline for submissions: March 31, 2026

Artist applications are now open for the TD Music Artist in Residence at MacEwan University Program. The fifth edition of the emerging artist development program returns in August 2026.

MacEwan University’s Department of Music, in collaboration with TD Bank Group, is pleased to announce the return of the TD Music Artist In Residence program, running from August 4 through August 16, 2026. Now entering its fifth iteration, this two-week intensive program supports emerging Alberta-based songwriters, producers, beat-makers and band leaders through immersive creative and professional development. Applications are now open, with submissions due by March 31, 2026.

In 2025, the TD Music Artist in Residence program was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Community Excellence, recognizing its impact on artist development and community-building within the Canadian music ecosystem.

Open to Alberta residents aged 18 and over, the program provides a focused environment for artists to develop new work, refine their craft and build practical skills for sustainable music careers. Participants engage in private studio sessions, workshops and masterclasses spanning songwriting, recording, performance, production, career strategy, marketing and funding. The program places particular emphasis on supporting artists from marginalized communities and historically underserved populations.

Workshops are led by faculty from MacEwan’s Department of Music and Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications, alongside alumni mentors and visiting industry professionals. Sessions include topics such as publishing, co-writing, royalty streams, grant-writing and audience development. Each participant also receives dedicated recording time in MacEwan’s professional studio facilities.

The program is offered at no cost to participants. Eligible artists can apply now at tdmusicartistatmacewan.com.
