Casting call for The Brothers Paranormal (Equity and Non-Equity) by Prince Gomolvilas, directed by Esther Jun.

Production Description

Set in the Midwestern United States, Two Thai-American brothers embark on a ghost-hunting venture in order to profit from the growing phenomenon of Asian-looking ghost sightings. As the brothers delve into the home of a couple tormented by a truly bone-chilling spirit, their perceptions of reality, fantasy, and sanity are pushed to the limits by an unsettling truth.

Roles to be Cast

  • JAI Female-identifying, Asian, late teens/early 20s
    Ghostly and enigmatic. This is a non-speaking role, highly physical in nature. Looking for a dance/gymnastic/movement background.
  • MAX Male-identifying, Asian, mid-20s
    Visarut’s brother. U.S. born. He is the salesman of the company he runs with his brother. He is charismatic, persuasive and determined. A little bit of a conman. He has taken on the responsibility of taking care of his family, and does what needs to be done to take care of them. No accent required.
  • VISARUT Male-identifying, Asian, mid to late-30s
    Max’s brother. Immigrated to the U.S. at 13 years old. He is the technician of the company he runs with his brother. He is sympathetic, conscious-driven, and a private person. A recovered alcoholic. He’s making up for mistakes he’s committed in the past. Name is pronounced “VIS-UH-ROODT”. He speaks with a Thai accent.
  • TASANEE Female-identifying, Asian, 60s
    Max and Visarut’s mother. Immigrated to the U.S. at 33 years old. A no-nonsense character. She can be quite brazen. Straight and to the point. Name is pronounced DTAH-SAH-NEE. She speaks with a Thai accent.
  • DELIA Female-identifying, Black, 50s
    U.S. born. A customer of the Brothers Paranormal. Has been living in this city after losing everything in hurricane Katrina. She is sleep deprived, anxious, and has an urgent energy. She is also deeply resilient and strong. She is a loving wife to her husband. Character name is pronounced DEE-LEE-UH
  • FELIX Male-identifying, Black, 50s
    Delia’s husband. U.S. born. A paramedic by trade. He is a very caring person and deeply loves his wife, wants whatever is best for her. He is haunted by past mistakes and has lost his sense of home.

Casting Process

Selected candidates will be provided with scenes to work from during the auditions. A reader will be provided. The audition space is accessible and barrier-free.

*We will not be collecting hard copies of headshots and resumes at the audition. The audition panel will receive them all electronically.
