Hear from incredible local talent that are making strides in the Canadian film and TV industry! In the final instalment of the Black Excellence Film Series, presented with WOEZO Africa, we’re welcoming Kathryn Fasegha and Randy Quansah to a special post-screening talkback diving into the film’s core theme of embracing life fully.
Kathryn Fasegha is an award-winning filmmaker celebrated for her compelling romantic dramas that spotlight African and diasporic stories with depth, heart, and authenticity. With a career that began in Nigeria’s vibrant television industry in the late 1980s, Kathryn wrote and directed over 250 episodes of drama series for both television and radio before making the leap into feature filmmaking.
Randy Quansah is a multilingual multidisciplinary artist, educator, and creator of Hey Kujo!, a vibrant children’s show available on YouTube, Sensical TV, and TELUS Optik. He also produced the TELUS Optik documentary Lundi: The Kujo’s Kid Zone Story. With an MBA and over a decade of experience in inclusive education, Randy’s work blends storytelling with social impact.
Wunmi Idowu is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, teaching artist, consultant, producer, and the Founder and Director of Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc., a role she has held since 2006. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in Alberta, Canada, she is also the Founder of the Black Arts & Culture Council (BACC) and the CEO and Producer of Letura Productions Inc.
