Calgary Opera Répétiteur / Resident Conductor
Are you passionate about the arts and looking to work with one of the most innovative and ambitious professional opera companies in Canada? Calgary Opera invites applications for Répétiteur/Resident Conductor at Calgary Opera. Anticipated start date is August 2022. The main duty of the Répétiteur will be to function as pianist on opera productions at Calgary Opera as well as other ancillary events throughout the year. This person will also function as music associate to the Artistic Director. There will be involvement coaching and accompanying Calgary Opera’s Emerging Artists. Other responsibilities will reflect the experience and interests of the successful candidate.
Potential responsibilities of the Répétiteur may include any of the duties listed below as determined by the artistic director:
- Pianist for productions
- Assistant conductor
- Backstage conducting
- Conducting Emerging Artist productions
- Assisting with preparation of orchestral material
- Assisting chorus master
- Liaising with Artistic Director
- Coaching of Emerging Artists
- Playing for guest teachers of Emerging Artists
- Preparation of any supporting material for artists
- Artist coaching
- Participation in ancillary musical events
- Performance at ancillary events
- Other duties as assigned
