When Words Collide is still accepting applications for speakers for the 2026 festival (August 14 – 16).

We’d love to hear from you!
Consider submitting a[n]:
- Lecture/Seminar (presentation)
- Workshop (interactive)
- Panel discussions (exciting topic with one moderator / three panelists)
- Author event
Additionally, agents and editors should feel free to pitch a Blue Pencil, Pitch Session or Live Action Slush event!
All panelists, presenters and moderators will receive a $100 honorarium and be provided with a Festival Pass ($130 value).

Held in Calgary, Alberta, every August since 2011, When Words Collide is Canada’s most fun multi-genre, writer/reader/fan festival. Our aim is to curate engaging, diverse and high-quality content that educates, inspires, and connects our attendees.
When Words Collide supports writers in the craft and business of writing, exploring all avenues of the writing process, publishing and storytelling, while building a strong literary community. We love to bring local writers (Alberta and Canada) to the attention of book lovers.
