Vertigo Theatre seeks submissions from visual artists for lobby art gallery.
About the Showcase:
Vertigo Theatre is seeking local visual art to showcase on our lobby walls during our productions. The showcase is to be themed to the Vertigo production for which the artwork is on display, with new art being showcased for every production. We are not seeking to commission artists to design or create new artwork. We wish to see your existing artwork and collections.
The Selected Artists for this Showcase Will:
- Showcase their artwork in Vertigo Theatre’s lobby for the duration of one production (4-6 weeks)
- Receive a display fee as per CARFAC guidelines & 100% of the proceeds from any sales
- Receive 1 flex passes (2 tickets) to any show in our BD&P 25/26 series
- An Artist Spotlight feature in the show playbill
- Have artwork insured while on-site
Requirements:
- Artists must be local to the Calgary or Alberta area and able to deliver and pick up their artwork.
- It will be the artist’s responsibility to install and take down their art (as well as provide the required hanging hardware), with support from a Vertigo Theatre liaison.
- Upon the installation day, artwork must be framed or canvassed and fitted with appropriate hanging hardware on the back.
- Artwork must not contain nudity or excessive violence.
How to Apply:
We are seeking artwork that has visual, moral, or thematic ties to the shows listed in the link below. Thematic references are also given below, these are mere suggestions. If you believe your artwork has a strong tie to the story or aesthetics of the play, please submit!
