Alberta Music is a non-profit, service-based association dedicated to helping professionals in the music industry to succeed in their careers.
We are member-based, representing members in all facets of the music industry, including artists, managers, songwriters, studios, venues and beyond. Through our programs and services, we provide information, education, advocacy and industry opportunities to develop and promote the growth and sustainability of the Alberta music industry.
Position Overview
Alberta Music is seeking applications for the role of communications and administrative coordinator. This position supports the overall work of the association and both offices (Edmonton and Calgary) but is based in Edmonton.
Reporting to the executive director, the communications and administrative coordinator is responsible for managing administrative tasks and overseeing communications efforts to support Alberta Music’s programs, initiatives, and outreach. This role involves coordinating internal and external communications, assisting with membership inquiries, maintaining organizational records, and providing operational support to the Alberta Music team.
The ideal candidate has a keen interest in the music industry who is interested in developing a career in this sector, enthusiastic about the local music scene, enjoys collaborative work on a variety of projects, and working with a distributed team.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Implementation of Alberta Music’s communications and social media strategies, including but not limited to: e-newsletter research, creation and distribution, Instagram, Facebook, other social media platforms as required.
- Assist with the administration of Alberta Music’s programming including compiling results data, success stories and assist in reporting.
- Provide career consultations for members and non-members.
- Outreach.
- Represent Alberta Music at local events.
- Maintain membership database.
- Maintain and enhance member benefit programs.
- Educate members and non-members as to the benefits of membership.
- Website content creation and management.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the office space, manage supply inventory, perform front desk/reception duties, and provide administrative assistance to the executive director and program manager.
- Assist with finance administration tasks, including coding, submitting, and filing payables, and support general organizational operations as needed.
- Perform other related duties to support organizational operations and contribute to the smooth running of Alberta Music.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time position is 30 hours per week, with an annual salary of $30,000, subject to required deductions and contingent on annual funding. A benefits package is also included. Our regular office hours are 9am– 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, and we operate within a hybrid workplace model, allowing for a combination of in-office work and remote flexibility.
The role may require occasional evening and weekend work, as well as local and interprovincial travel. Employees will earn time off in lieu for any additional hours worked outside of their regular schedule. This position includes two weeks of paid vacation, along with additional paid time off between Christmas and New Year’s.
