Content & Community Lead
Nyla Free Designs
Position: Part-time (15 – 20 hours/week), potential to grow into full-time
Nyla Free Designs is looking for a content-driven, design-savvy storyteller to lead and evolve our social and email presence.
About the Role
This is not a plug-and-play social media role. We are looking for someone who can step into an established brand, understand its voice and aesthetic at a deep level and translate that into thoughtful, consistent, high-quality content.
You will be responsible for both strategy and execution, from shaping the content calendar to producing and publishing assets across Instagram and email, with future expansion into YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
The goal is not rapid growth for the sake of it. The goal is building brand loyalty, engagement and a recognizable point of view.
What You’ll Lead
- Content strategy & planning
- Own and shape a monthly content calendar aligned to brand priorities
- Translate brand vision into clear content themes and narratives
- Identify opportunities to deepen engagement, not just increase volume
- Identify and guide platform expansion strategies (YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest)
- Content Creation & Execution
- Create and publish content across Instagram (posts, reels, stories)
- Write and design email newsletters that feel aligned and intentional
- Develop short-form video content with a strong visual point of view
- Maintain consistency in tone, aesthetic, and storytelling across channels
- Design & Creative Direction
- Execute within an established brand identity, not reinvent it
- Bring a strong eye for composition, layout, and visual storytelling
- Ensure all content feels elevated, cohesive and on-brand
- Community & Engagement
- Support audience engagement and ongoing brand conversation
- Contribute to building a loyal, design-conscious community
Role Focus
- This role is centered on content, storytelling and brand building
- A passion for interiors and design is important, as you will be immersed in the world of our projects and aesthetic
- While you will work closely with design-driven content, this position is focused on bringing the brand to life through content rather than practicing interior design
Who You Are
- You understand how to translate a brand into content, not just post for the sake of posting
- You have a strong visual eye and a genuine interest in interiors, design and aesthetics
- You are both strategic and hands-on; you can think and execute
- You are detail-oriented and consistent, with a high bar for quality
- You are comfortable working within an established brand voice and refining it over time
- You are proactive, organized, and able to manage your own workflow
- You are comfortable taking ownership and making decisions, while staying aligned with an established brand direction
Skills & Experience
- Experience owning and leading social media and email marketing for a brand
- Strong copywriting skills with an understanding of tone and voice
- Competency in content creation tools (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva, video editing tools)
- Experience with email platforms (e.g. Flodesk, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar)
- Experience creating video content for social
- Proficient with Instagram, and working knowledge of YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest
- Ability to balance creative thinking with executional detail
- A portfolio or examples of past content work are strongly recommended
Logistics
- Hours: 15 to 20 hours per week to start
- Location: Calgary-based, hybrid role
- Requirements: Must have a car for occasional on-site content capture
- Growth Path: Opportunity to expand into a full-time role
