Conversations Across Borders

Online Collaborator Roundtable series

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

As an expansion of our ongoing collaborator roundtable series, we’re hosting check-ins from artists in cities around the world as we navigate the impact of this global pandemic. We need to connect with each other now more than ever. We want to know how artists worldwide are making sense of this monumental shift in everyday reality.

We believe this moment will be seen as a defining point in our history, and certainly our lifetimes. For example, we’re still feeling the impacts of major global events, such as those of September 11, 2001.

Ghost River Theatre’s musical X-Ray examined these events in 2004 and was largely ignored. Whereas the Canadian smash-hit musical Come From Away, examining Newfoundland’s response to planes being grounded, opened on Broadway in 2017 and is still running there, in the West End, and in other cities around the world.

So what is the fallout of a major global event like this and how does it affect us as we’re living in it now? How is it different to respond artistically to an event in the moment, just after, or with the perspective of time? We will explore these and other questions as we continue to discover what this moment in history means to us now and what it will mean in the future.

The sessions will be free and hosted by Artistic Director Eric Rose on Zoom. Our first roundtable will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

Stay tuned as we confirm times and international participants. Interested?
