Creative Mentorship with Dr. Shumaila Hemani
The Deep Listening Path
Session dates: Between May 25 and June 3, 2026
Consultation Rate: $250 / 90 minutes
I began writing Writing in the Wound around this time last year in May — initially as a deeply personal act of storytelling, reflection and survival. I did not anticipate how the work would gradually open new creative, literary and scholarly pathways.
Since its publication in October 2025, the memoir has led to several public talks and artistic conversations, including literary engagements, the publication of auto-fiction with the International Human Rights Art Movement Press, and a forthcoming journal article in Traditions of Music and Dance (Cambridge University Press & Assessment). Over the years, I have also taught courses and mentored writers, artists, graduate students, and interdisciplinary creatives through academic and community spaces including the Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society and beyond.
This spring/summer, I am offering a rare opportunity to work with me one-on-one through a limited number of private creative mentorship consultations. These sessions are designed for writers, artists, researchers, graduate students, and individuals developing manuscripts, grants, academic writing, memoir, or long-term creative projects.
This is a rare opportunity to work with me before consultations close indefinitely. These sessions are intentionally limited and are expected to fill quickly.
These 90-minute sessions are ideal for:
- Writers
- Graduate students
- Artists and interdisciplinary creatives
- Researchers
- Grant applicants
- People developing long-term personal projects
You may also bring up to 1,000 words of writing for detailed feedback.
Consultation Rate: $250 / 90 minutes
Sessions will take place between May 25 and June 3. Early inquiries are strongly encouraged, as registration will close once all five spaces are claimed.
