Afros in tha City is entering its next editorial chapter.
For over a decade, Afros in tha City has collected and documented the creativity, stories and cultural influence of Black communities in Calgary and beyond. What began as a platform to spotlight artists, thinkers and cultural leaders has grown into an archive of the diaspora’s evolving creative landscape.
We are now seeking an editor-in-chief to help lead the next phase of the publication.
This role will oversee the editorial process while working closely with the founder to shape the direction of Afros in tha City.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the editorial calendar
- Coordinating with writers and contributors
- Handling press and media requests
- Scheduling and organizing interviews
- Managing editorial communications and inbox
- Maintaining the voice and integrity of the publication
This role is structured as a revenue-share leadership position, ideal for someone who believes in independent media and wants to help grow a long-standing cultural platform.
