About the Position

Event staff are responsible for setting up the various venue spaces at Studio Bell for use by third-party clients. The primary role of the event staff is to liaise directly with clients on the day of their event to ensure the event’s success. Event staff will be expected to represent NMC at concerts, recitals, receptions, presentations, meetings, weddings, birthday parties and more.

Applicants for this position must be available to work evenings and weekends and have ProServe certification.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Set-up and strike a changing roster of events at Studio Bell
  • Provide a high level of customer service to the client and their service providers
  • Work with NMC Hosts, volunteers and third-party suppliers to successfully prepare, execute and conclude events at Studio Bell
  • Bartending during NMC internal events in accordance with AGLC regulations
  • Liaise with the client to perfect the details of the event during set-up, execution and strike
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of visitors, service providers, staff and volunteers
  • Liaise with NMC Security and cleaning staff as required
  • Adhere to NMC policies and attend training and evaluation meetings
  • Provide good stewardship of Studio Bell venue spaces, resources and equipment
  • Represent NMC, communicate our mission and vision and be up to date on key messages and dress-code requirements
  • Always ensure that all clients and visitors leave having had a positive experience of NMC
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Be a strong leader with exceptional customer service, inter-personal and problem-solving skills
  • Be willing and able to work a flexible part-time schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated, able to work well independently and be quick to take initiative
  • Be able to work with a changing roster of staff, volunteers, clients, guests and contractors
  • Have strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; able to multitask and manage time wisely
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to think and act quickly
  • Understand that being receptive to our clients, both internal and external and their needs is paramount
  • ProServe certification
  • Can lift up to 20 kg.
  • Be able to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Familiarity of the service, museum, event and/or facilities industries is an asset
  • Familiarity with special event equipment and resources is an asset
  • Working knowledge of live audio/video production and the needs of clients and musicians is an asset
  • Be passionate about music and enjoy engaging people
