In partnership with the National accessArts Centre, curator Sherrine Fox invites artists in all stages of their career to apply for the group exhibition, Explosions of Curiosity.
About the Exhibition
An adventure can be exciting, it can be challenging and unusual, or it could even be an activity that’s just outside of your comfort zone. An adventure can make you feel brave, it can fill you with a sense of wonder, it can even defy the odds that are stacked against you. Explosions of Curiosity aims to explore the adventures of people with disabilities.
This exhibition welcomes artists who:
- Work in drawing, painting, sculpture, craft, fibre or ceramics
- Are 16 years of age or older
- Are in any stage of their career
- People who identify as living with a disability
Note: Priority will be given to artists working in Calgary and surrounding areas.
Important Dates:
- Submissions open October 9, 2025
- Deadline to apply is January 8, 2026
- Applicants will be contacted by February 12, 2026
- Exhibition opens May – June 2026 (exact dates TBD)
About the Curator
Sherrine Fox is an emerging artist and curator living in Calgary, Alberta. Sherrine is a stroke survivor with a passion for the arts, the outdoors, and for storytelling. She loves arts ability to transport you to another place or time, and its powerful potential for transforming lives.
Sherrine has been attending the National accessArts Centre since 2022, where joined NaAC’s professional track programs. She was the 2024 Drawing and Painting Practicum, and has was a part of the exhibition A Queens Celebration at artsPlace in Canmore. She also had a video short of her artwork featured in Yonge Dundas Square in Toronto.

- You may submit a video application (up to 5 minutes) instead of a written response

In your application, please include the following:
- Artist Bio (2 – 4 sentences) briefly describing who you are as an artist.
- Artist Statement (3 – 6 sentences) describing the art that you make. You can include why you make the art, how you make the art, how you feel when you make art, and any art research that goes into your creative process.
- Up to ten images of your artwork or up to 3 minutes of a video work sample.
- Please name your artwork files with the following format: Artist name, Artwork name, date, materials, dimension or duration.
- A one-page CV outlining your experience in the arts (optional).
