Gender Diversity Training for the Film Industry
Spindle Films Foundation
Training: Online
Dates: Open dates for completing at your own pace
Spindle Films Foundation is delighted to announce the release of our Online Gender Diversity Training for the Canadian Film Industry! This training is an introduction to all things gender diversity, including expanding your understanding of gender categories, learning some basic terms, and exploring the nuances of pronouns. The training is free, fun, and low pressure.
If you are a gender diverse, Two Spirit, trans, or nonbinary filmmaker please send this training along to the people you work with and take some of the burden of education off your shoulders.
If you are a cisgender filmmaker or industry professional, take this training yourself! and then send it along to the people in your networks.
You and your network can take the training at this link gender-diversity-training.teachery.co.
Participation in the online training qualifies you for our in person Allyship and Repair Training happening later this year. You can also participate in research on the effectiveness of our training run by the University of Calgary. Complete the surveys at the beginning and end of the training and qualify for a draw for several $50 gift cards!
This training was built by Spindle team member Javelin Laurence (they/them). It is funded by the Community Initiatives Program from the Alberta Minister of Arts, Culture, and Status of Women, and the Changing Narratives Grant from the Canadian Media Fund. We are grateful for their support during a tumultuous time for trans and gender diverse rights and expression. Now is the time to take this training and get confident in supporting your gender diverse colleagues!
