General Manager
Mount Royal Choral Association of Calgary

Position: Part-time
The general manager will serve as an ambassador of the Mount Royal Children’s and Youth choirs, the Mount Royal Choral Association and Mount Royal University. The general manager will represent these
organizations with a professional and positive attitude.

Responsibilities
Office Management and Administration
- Support and assist artistic staff with program planning and delivery; including:
- Developing the program season schedule
- Coordinating volunteers
- Organizing and distributing music binders and uniforms
- Weekly email communications with families
- Support and assist both Artistic staff and the MRCA board of directors with event management for concerts, workshops, camps, tours and year-end BBQ.
- Collect and maintain paper and digital records for the program and association in an orderly and secure manner, including program registrations, society bylaws and policies, contracts, donations, fundraising, volunteers and alumni, with adherence to FOIP regulations for all personal information.
- Liaise with MRU staff, granters and sponsors and external support contractors.
Funding and Granting
- Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns.
- Assist MRCA board of directors with fundraising casinos.
- Coordinate grants application process in collaboration with artistic director.
- Foster funder and sponsorship relationships.
- Submit reports by designated deadlines, maintain organized records.
- Seek and pursue new funding sources for MRCA and choirs.
Financial
- With artistic director and MRCA Treasurer, develop annual operating budget with MRCA Treasurer, manage the day-to-day financial operations.
- Update and maintain accurate financial records; revenue, expenses, donations, program deposits.
- Initiate banking transactions.
- Coordinate with bookkeeper and accountant, monthly and annual reporting.
- Order supplies and equipment as needed.
Marketing & Promotion
- Design and create promotional material that meets MRU brand specifics.
- Book and arrange for advertising and promotion.
- Manage MRCA website, coordinate with IT contractor as needed.
- Develop and maintain a social media presence.
Executive Duties
- Attend the MRCA board of directors meetings, reporting on program and operational updates.
- Attend the MRCA Annual General Meeting and present parent orientations with MRCA Board President, prepare monthly meeting agenda, set up online meeting room, distribute invitations and meeting reports.
- Serve on MRCA board committees as required.
- Submit all association filings in a timely manner.
Skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, written).
- Highly organized, focused and effective in meeting deliverables.
- Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office, Google doc, QuickBooks, Canva.
Structure and Time Commitment
- The general manager reports directly to the MRCA board of directors in a permanent, part-time role.
- The position requires approximately 25 hours per week to complete deliverables.
- Work hours are flexible, outside of the requirement to attend all evening rehearsals and weekend events.
- Actual hours worked each week will vary according to the season’s activities, with duties performed both onsite at the MRU Conservatory and remotely.
