Free intro workshop for grassroots organizers and creatives who want to fund community projects but feel stuck or unsure where to start.

Got a creative idea for your community but don’t know how to fund it?

This free, beginner-friendly workshop is for grassroots organizers, artists and local residents who want to bring their ideas to life—but feel overwhelmed by the grant process or have struggled to get funding in the past.

Led by Dennis Lee, photographer, community organizer, and grant writer who has secured over $800,000 in funding in the last few years for arts and community projects, this session will help you:

  • Understand the types of grants available
  • Learn how to plan and communicate your project clearly
  • Discover what funders are looking for
  • Avoid common mistakes in applications
  • Gain confidence in your ability to apply

Whether you’re planning an art project, community event, or grassroots initiative—this workshop will help you take the first step towards securing funding.

This is Part One of a two-part grant writing workshop series.

Part Two will be a smaller, more hands-on session focused on developing actual applications. Participants will get personalized support to flesh out their ideas, draft key sections, and receive feedback.

Attendance at Part One is encouraged, but not required to join Part Two. Attendees of Part One will receive priority registration.

For more information and to register visit Introduction to Grant Writing.

Limited to 20 participants to keep the session intimate and interactive.
