Main Street Public Art — Functional Art Temporary Infrastructure Enhancements

Town of Canmore

Eligibility: Alberta artists
Deadline to Apply: February 6, 2026, 4:30pm MT
Commission Fee: $3,000 CAD

Bring your imagination and talent to the heart of Canmore. The Functional Art Program invites artists to create temporary functional public artworks that animate downtown spaces in fresh and meaningful ways.

The intent of the Functional Art Temporary Sculptures Call to Artists is to introduce new original, dynamic, and functional structures that offer seating, rest and gathering opportunities to Canmore’s downtown pedestrian zone. These functional sculptures will transform everyday urban landscapes into engaging public spaces, while reinforcing Canmore’s identity as a community grounded in arts, culture and environmental stewardship.

The Town of Canmore invites artists to submit a proposal for temporary functional infrastructure enhancements in Canmore’s downtown area. The project budget is $3,000 CAD for original artwork that animates and connects multiple pieces of everyday downtown infrastructure.

This call for submissions is open to artists living in Alberta and Indigenous artists who have contemporary or historical connections to Treaty 7 Territory.

Please see Canmore.ca/art for more information and learn how to apply.
