Duration: 2 Days, 4 Hours per Day (Total 8 Instruction Hours)
Dates: August 8 & 9, and August 15 & 16: Friday from 5 – 9pm, Saturday from 9am – 1pm

Day 1:
Foundations and Ensemble Unification (3 Hours)
Theme: Building a Cohesive Musical Vision
Core The Conductor’s Toolkit (120 minutes)
- Review of Basic Conducting Gestures.
- Revisiting fundamental patterns (2, 3, 4, etc.) and their expressive variations.
- Focus on clarity, preparation and release.
- Beyond the Baton: Non-Verbal Communication (20 min):
- Eye contact, facial expressions, body language and their impact on ensemble response.
- Techniques for cueing, shaping and inspiring.
- Score Study for Performance (120 min):
- Efficient and effective score analysis for both choral and orchestral works.
- Identifying critical moments: entrances, releases, tempo changes, dynamics, phrasing.
- Developing a “mental map” of the piece before rehearsal.
Day 2:
Rehearsal Strategies and Problem Solving (120 minutes)
- Maximizing Rehearsal Efficiency (25 min):
- Setting clear objectives for each rehearsal.
- Pacing, time management, and maintaining focus.
- Strategies for warm-ups and cool-downs specific to choir and orchestra.
- Addressing Common Ensemble Challenges (120 min)
- Intonation issues (choral and instrumental).
- Rhythmic precision and synchronization.
- Balance and blend across sections.
- Identifying and correcting technical deficiencies.
- Effective Verbal Communication (15 min):
- Concise and constructive feedback techniques.
- Using metaphors and imagery to evoke musical ideas.
- Building a positive and productive rehearsal atmosphere.
- Marking scores effectively for rehearsal and performance Q&A Sessions: Dedicated time for questions from participants.
- Mini-Masterclass (Optional) Individual lesson on request per participant (fees to be discussed)
