The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers is an inclusive, non-profit, arts-based society that exists to encourage filmmaking as art, reflecting and challenging our changing cultural landscape through production, exhibition and distribution of the filmmaker’s work.

Are you our next Programming & Communications Director?

If you:

  • Have a keen understanding and appreciation of Calgary’s film and media arts community, and are passionate about building community.
  • Are ready to oversee the leadership of our annual short format film festival—The Artifact Film Festival.
  • Want the opportunity to manage and coordinate CSIF’s communication both externally and internally.
  • Have the ability to write and disseminate press releases, and maintain strong relationships with local and national media.
  • Are able to manage CSIF’s website, social media channels, and weekly e-newsletters, and Slack workspace.
  • Long for the opportunity to program independent film events and screenings.
  • Have killer time management skills.
  • Communicate excitingly when you speak and write.
  • Enjoy working in a front facing role, and engaging directly with the public.
  • Have the proven ability to develop strong relationships with community partners, and stakeholders.

If you have experience:

  • Successfully coordinating film/media events and/or post-secondary training in programming and event management, with 2+ years of work experience.
  • In marketing, communication, graphic design and/or post-secondary training in marketing and communications, with 2+ years of work experience.
  • Leading workshops and public speaking.
  • Working with/in an artist-run, non-profit centre.
  • Managing temporary staff, interns, and volunteers.

This is a full-time gig (35 hours a week) with a standard schedule of Tuesday to Saturday, offering a competitive non-profit salary of $32,000 to $38,000 per year with benefits.
