2026 Quest Internship

Quest Theatre

Deadline to apply: June 2, 2025
Term: Full-time, 15 weeks
Compensation: $800/weekly

Quest’s General Internship opportunity take place between January and April of 2026, is 15 weeks long and is open to any BFA Drama graduate or equivalent.

The nature of this opportunity primarily favours candidates with an interest in drama education but is also shaped by the candidate’s other identified interests in the theatre arts industry. The internship can provide learning opportunities to explore, learn and gain competencies in all aspects of a non-profit arts organization. In addition to drama education, the opportunity anticipates interest in any of the following areas of theatre: acting, directing, playwriting, stage management, AGM and Board exposure, or arts administration (including communications, marketing and fundraising). Because we primarily work in the school system and occasional public venues, technical theatre experiences are limited.

Many of our former Interns still accept weekly teaching contracts with Quest while being active in the Calgary theatre sector. An invaluable hands-on experience for anyone thinking of going into theatre in any capacity.

Logistical Details:

  • 15 full-time consecutive weeks (negotiable) between January and April 2026, generally inside our Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm hours, with occasional evening or weekend requests during performances or special events.
  • There can be out of town travel when working at a rural school during a weeklong residency. Accommodation, additional per diem and transportation will be provided. Time in leu will be granted as residencies occasionally include travel on the Saturday or Sunday preceding or following a residency.
  • Statutory holidays are observed.
  • Communication regarding flexibility, for whatever reason, (outside creative projects, or outside responsibilities) is expected and welcomed.

Compensation: $800/week, based on a 40-hour work week for 15 consecutive weeks, anytime between January to April 2026.

How To Apply

Please send a letter of interest articulating why you think you would be a good candidate, any experience working or teaching with young people, and what other areas of theatre for young audiences, performing, directing, playwrighting, arts administration, etc. you are interested in learning about. We would be happy to discuss accommodating your specific access and other needs.
