How to Shoot Film Workshops

The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers is hosting upcoming workshops on film shooting.

Location: 1725 10th Ave. SW

How to Shoot with Super 8

Dates: October 14 and 15, 2023
Times: 9am – 5pm
Cost: $250 – $290

This is for the person interested in learning how to shoot on film. This course is led by Philip Letourneau, longtime CSIF production member and a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, who understands and appreciates the beauty of working with analog film. In this two day course you’ll be given a roll of Super 8 film, learn how to use a camera, and actually shoot a scene!

Day 1 (October 14, 2023): Understand the theory behind shooting on film and get hands-on with the camera.

Day 2 (October 15, 2023): Shoot a short scene and understand how to process the film so that you can then go onto the editing phase.

Shooting with 16mm Film

Dates: October 28 and 29, 2023
Times: 9am – 5pm
Cost: $250 – $290

This is a more advanced course than our Super 8 class. This course is led by Philip Letourneau, longtime CSIF production member and a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, who understands and appreciates the beauty of working with analog film. In this two day course you’ll be given 50 feet of 16mm film, learn how to use a camera, and actually shoot a scene!Day 1 (October 28): Understand the theory behind shooting on film and get hands-on with the camera.Day 2 (October 29): Shoot a short scene and understand how to process the film so that you can then go onto the editing phase.
