Location: Remote (with occasional in-person attendance at events as required)
Contract Term: September 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026 (with extension consideration within 60 days of completion of term)
Compensation: $1,500 CDN contract fee per month

About the Role
Women in Music Canada is seeking a highly creative, strategic, and organized social media coordinator to oversee the planning, creation, and execution of content across key social platforms including Instagram and Facebook. This contract position will play a key role in shaping and maintaining a consistent digital brand identity, growing engagement, and supporting key programming and WIMC initiatives through compelling content.
Organization Brief
Women in Music Canada is a registered Canadian non-profit organization based in Toronto, as one of the largest music industry associations in Canada, with over 1,700 members and 12,000+ combined followers online.
The organization is dedicated to fostering gender equality in the music industry through the support and advancement of industry professional and creative women in music at every stage of their career. A primary goal is to strengthen the social-economic balance of the music industry by providing professional development, support and resources for our community.
Additionally, we are an affiliate of the larger Women in Music global organization, with members and chapters throughout the US as well as global chapters, allowing us to network, learn and promote talent with similar communities around the world.

Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a cohesive social media aesthetic and content strategy aligned with WIM’s brand identity.
- Identify and develop key content pillars for ongoing storytelling and engagement.
- Conduct a one-time social media audit that includes optimization suggestions.
- Create original short-form content (photo, video, stories, and reels) and adapt existing assets into engaging social formats.
- Schedule and post 2 – 3 posts per week, plus 1 – 3 Instagram Stories per day (5 days/week).
- Write compelling and on-brand captions for each platform.
- Design branded graphic assets, including story templates and highlight covers.
- Manage weekly audience engagement (comments, DMs) and implement DM automation as needed.
- Update weekly Instagram highlights and profile link tools (Linktree or similar).
- Pull and report on monthly analytics, performance trends, and audience insights.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in social media content creation and strategy.
- Excellent knowledge of Instagram and related digital tools.
- Strong video editing and design skills using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Canva, etc.
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling ability tailored for social.
- Experience with analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- A positive, proactive, and resourceful attitude.
- Passion for music, digital storytelling and inclusive representation.
- A knowledge of the Canadian music industry.
- Experience with running digital ad campaigns.
- Experience with equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility project and training will be an asset.
