Stories are fundamental to understanding the world. Stories defy limitations, build empathy, shape our identities, allow us to share experiences and emotions and create connection. Stories allow us to imagine other worlds, other futures. Without storytellers, we don’t have stories.
At the Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society, we’ve been helping people share their stories since 1981. Last year, we had over 3,000 participants in our programs, and through that, they have found confidence, community, and courage.
When you support AWCS, you’re supporting someone searching for their voice. You’re helping a someone find the place they belong. You’re nurturing the next generation of authors and strengthening Calgary’s creative heart.
That’s the kind of impact your 50/50 ticket makes.
Your ticket helps us keep creative spaces open, fund youth and adult programs, and grow new initiatives that make writing accessible to everyone.
This year, our goal is to raise over $10,000 through the 50/50. So far, we’ve reached $3590, and every ticket helps us get closer. And don’t forget, it’s a 50/50. Half the pot goes to one lucky winner. The other half keeps stories alive in our province.
