River Hall

Contract: Full-time, fixed-term contract from May 2026 to October 2026 (approx. six months)
Work Format: On-site at River Hall, Calgary

About Aire Commune

Since 2017, Aire Commune has redefined the urban landscape with avant-garde projects in large-scale events, urban design and ephemeral sites. We bring bold concepts to life, creating outdoor co-working spaces and festive gathering hubs that connect the city from 9-to-5 to 5-to-7.

About River Hall

River Hall is a landmark project designed to unite the community through food, music and culture by the Bow River. Building on the success of the 2024 and 2025 pilots, Aire commune has been mandated by the City of Calgary to evolve Lot 6 into River Hall 2.0: a premier year-round, four-season destination featuring a heated pavilion that balances public accessibility with operational sustainability.

Position: Venue Manager

Reporting directly to the project manager, the venue manager is the primary custodian of River Hall’s operational excellence on the ground. This role oversees all aspects of site and event operations — from technical infrastructure and vendor management to security, staffing and daily maintenance — ensuring a seamless, safe and high-quality experience for every visitor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support the event manager, security, cleaning services and all on-site operational staff.
  • Vendor and F&B Onboarding: Define selection criteria, recruit and onboard F&B operators and market vendors; conduct ongoing performance reviews.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate and support all food and beverage vendors; ensure they have everything required for their operations, set up vendor agreements and maintain service and quality standards across all vendors.
  • Site Operations: Organize the daily life of the site during events — access management, deliveries, visitor circulation and setup/teardown.
  • Guest and Artist Welcome: Oversee visitor reception and the welcoming of artists; ensure a smooth and professional experience from arrival to departure.
  • Security and Safety: Manage the security team; oversee crowd control, safety protocols and emergency response.
  • Technical and Logistics: Oversee installation, maintenance and day-to-day management of all technical infrastructure and on-site logistics.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile daily and weekly sales reports; work with the project manager and finance team to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintenance and Infrastructure: Lead cleaning and upkeep teams; oversee installation and maintenance of all physical infrastructure.
  • Inspections and Compliance: Coordinate and attend mandatory inspections (AHS, fire, building and trade permits); ensure compliance with all health, safety and municipal regulations.
  • Reporting: Provide regular operational updates to the project manager and internal teams.

Contract Duration

Fixed-term contract from May 2026 to October 2026 (approx. six months), with possibility of renewal based on project needs and performance. Exact start and end dates may be adjusted based on operational requirements.
