Volunteers Needed: Chinatown Lantern Painting Workshop

We are seeking volunteers to support a Lantern Painting Workshop in Chinatown celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year – the Year of the Horse 2026.

Led by local artist Ziya Lin, this hands-on workshop will guide participants through the step-by-step process of creating a one-of-a-kind traditional Chinese lantern. Volunteers will play an essential role in ensuring the workshop runs smoothly and in helping to create a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere throughout the experience.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Assist with pre-workshop preparation, including venue set-up and organizing art materials and tools prior to participant arrival
  • Help with participant check-in by welcoming attendees, directing them to the workshop venue, and providing general housekeeping and wayfinding support
  • Assist to demonstrate and clarify the lantern-making steps for participants as needed
  • Support post-workshop clean-up and restore the venue to its original condition
