Camp fYrefly Southern Alberta 2026 is now accepting workshop applications for this summer’s programming!
What is Camp fYrefly? Camp fYrefly is a fun, educational, social and personal leadership retreat for 2SLGBTQ+ youth ages 13 – 17. Campers explore their identity, build resilience, enhance self-esteem and develop leadership skills that positively impact their lives, homes, schools and communities.
We are seeking creatives, artists, educators, knowledge keepers, and people of all sorts to facilitate workshops or activities at Camp fYrefly 2026. Workshops and activities can span from all kinds of paper crafts, film making, intro to DND or other role-playing games, improv, advocacy skills, music and song writing, and so much more! Selected workshops can be one- or two-hours long and take place as single day events from August 22 – 26, 2026 on the grounds at Camp Chief Hector YMCA in Kananaskis, AB. Guests will be required to find transportation to and from the site on the day of their workshop.
We kindly ask that you prepare a formal pitch of your workshop or activity which includes a title, objective, workshop description, list of materials or space requirements. It is also helpful to know how many participants would be ideal for your workshop, this can be a range or a max. Please submit an application using our form found here forms.office.com.
Please note that our timeslots for two-hour workshops are very limited. If you would like to submit an application for a two-hour workshop, please consider if it could be delivered in a one-hour format, unless your intended workshop is best suited for two hours.
Workshops will be chosen by our Youth Action Committee under the guidance of the Centre for Sexuality. Workshop facilitators will be compensated with a $75 honorarium. Applications will remain open until May 15, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Submissions received after this time may not be considered. Thank you for your understanding.
