Winter is coming! And we want you to come and spend it with us! Registration is now open for the Pumphouse Theatre’s winter semester of drama classes and camp for students aged six to 17. Have fun, gain new skills, and make new friends while learning the art of theatre—all while in a fully functioning theatre and historical site.

All available programs and descriptions are listed below. Register before December 1, 2019 and receive a discount!

Winter Drama Day Camps
Ages: 7 – 15
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Wednesday – Friday, January 1 – 3, 2020, 9:00am – 4:30pm
Cost:

  • 1 day enrollment: $70 (early bird $60)
  • 2 day enrollment: $100 (early bird $90)
  • 3 day enrollment: $120 (early bird $110)

Participants aged seven to 15 are welcome to enroll in any combination of one day, two days, or all three days! Each day will be a different theme and jam-packed full of creative drama activities. Join our amazing instructors as they teach everything from mask-making to puppets, character creation to playwriting, and so much more! Whether you are brand new or a seasoned pro, these drama day camps have something for everyone to enjoy!

Playful Drama
Ages: 6 – 8
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Monday 5:00pm-6:00pm; January 6 – March 16, 2020 (No class on February 17)
Cost: $125 ($100 discounted)

This course is a great introduction to the drama basics and covers a variety of topics including storytelling, character, sharing, movement, and theatre games. This is a wonderful way to help your child explore their imagination, learn new skills, and have fun! No experience required!

Creation in Motion
Ages: 9 – 12
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Monday, January 6 – March 16, 2020, 6:00 – 8:00pm  (No class on February 17)
Cost: $250 ($225 discounted)

Explore storytelling and harness imagination through physicality. Creation in Motion will encourage creative expression through movement, choreography, mime, balance, staging, and mask. Students will learn about teamwork, gain self-confidence, and be physically active, all within a safe and engaging environment. No previous experience is required!

Theatre Arts Exploration II
Ages: 9 – 12
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Saturdays, January 4 – March 14, 2020, 10:00am – 12:00pm (No class on February 15)
Cost: $250 ($225 Discounted)

This course is an all-inclusive exploration of the theatre arts. Students will be encouraged to discover a variety of dramatic techniques such as character creation, improvisation, movement, Shakespeare, scene study, and more! Have a blast creating and performing an original final presentation for friends and family. Previous Theatre Arts Exploration or other drama class experience encouraged.

Improv for Teens II
Ages: 13 – 17
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Saturdays, January 4 – March 14, 2020, 10:00am – 12:00pm (No class on February 15)
Cost: $325 ($300 Discounted)

Improv is a great way to have fun and explore while bolstering creativity, adaptability, team work, and confidence. This course includes lessons in theatresports, character development, story-telling, and many favourite improvisation games. Be inspired to think outside the box, learn something new, and have fun! Previous improvisation class experience encouraged.

Playwriting for Teens
Ages: 13 – 17
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Sundays, January 5 – March 15, 2020, 10:00am – 12:00pm (No class on February 16)
Cost: $325 ($300 Discounted)

This course is designed to give young performers a deeper understanding into the written world of theatre. Through examining classic and contemporary text, students will be guided to explore the craft of playwriting and dramaturgy and learn what it means to tell an effective story. Students will be able to have the opportunity to write their own monologues and short ten minute plays. No previous experience is required!
