3D Needle Felted Sculptures

The Leighton Art Centre invites you to explore the fun process of felting! On March 24, 2018, Emma Knox, Art & Nature Educator at the Leighton Art Centre, will be teaching two different workshops, each focused on a different way to approach felting. This one covers 3D needle felt sculpting. Participants will learn more advanced techniques in order to create a 3D sculpture of a bird, inspired by our local wildlife. Emma will discuss the proper way to use a felting needle as well as guide participants through the process of making a wire armature in order to support the sculpture’s formation. Other topics that will be covered are how to felt around the wire and basic needle felting techniques in order to create a more life-like sculpture.

This a family-centric workshop, ideal for adults and for families with children ages nine and upplease note that sharp needles will be used during the workshop. Safety procedures and proper use of the needle will be covered.

Date: March 24, 2018, 1:00 – 4:00pm
Cost: $20 for a single adult or extra child; $45 for a family package (two adults, two children)
