Young Singers Director

Do you:

The Calgary Boys’ Choir is seeking a Young Singers Choir Director for a new satellite choir in South Calgary as part of its strategy to expand current programs.

Reporting to and working closely with the Artistic Director and Young Singers Coordinator, the Young Singers South Director will be responsible for programming, rehearsals, and concerts for boys aged Kindergarten to Grade 2.

  • An experienced conductor (two to five years), teacher of children (at least one year), with a degree in music, and an understanding of vocal pedagogy.
  • Highly organized, engaging, and can capture the attention and imagination of young boys.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • A community builder.

Do something engaging and meaningful—areas of responsibility cover:

  • Leading weekly rehearsals.
  • September to May weekly rehearsals.

(Day and time TBC) at the south satellite.

Programming music in coordination with other Young Singers Coordinator and Artistic Director.

Location: Holy Nativity  Anglican Church (12707 Bonaventure Dr. SE)

Concerts and Workshops

  • Prepare and conduct boys in two main stage and two community-based concerts per year.
  • Lead/participate in choral workshops (four to five per season).
  • Additional events (other community appearances, festivals, etc) as required.

Challenge and variety—you love harnessing the energy of boys and working with engaged colleagues to instil a love of singing and foundational musicianship in young boys.
