Photographer/storyteller/adventurer David DuChemin speaks of how important it is to chase the magic, not the image. For the duration of this workshop, we will follow his mantra as we explore the grounds of Leighton Art Centre, looking within the landscape to uncover the magic.

Our goal is to make strong, intimate images that portray emotion and story. Going beyond the rules of composition, our itinerary includes discussing vision, simplicity and attentiveness to our surroundings, reviewing sample images, examining photography workflow, multiple explorations of the grounds to practice the art of seeing, making images and reviewing those images.

Artist/Instructor/Guide

My passion as a photographer is to explore and capture the magic. The work is contemplative utilizing elements of simplicity and story. As an educator, the camera became a way to document learning and tell the journey of my students. Later in my career as a professional learning specialist, I shared with students and teachers how to use the camera to produce stories documenting learning. Now I am capturing the magic that I see in the world. My goal is that my images inspire people to explore and challenge them to see the world around them.

My work is showcased on barryallenphotography.com and in galleries.
