With : Stephanie Dinkins

Date: Thursday, October 12, 2023, 6:30 – 7:30pmLocation: Online

Join exhibiting artist Stephanie Dinkins for an online artist talk about her work Conversations with Bina48 — currently showing in the exhibition Like everything alive that we try to hold forever — and her quest for friendship with a humanoid robot, which turned into a rabbit-hole of questions about the future, and an examination of the codification of social, cultural and future histories — at the intersection of technology, race, gender and social equity.

Stephanie Dinkins is a transmedia artist who creates experiences that spark dialogue about race, gender, aging and our future histories. Her work in AI and other mediums uses emerging technologies and social collaboration to work toward technological ecosystems based on care and social equity. Dinkins’ experiences with and explorations of artificial intelligence have led to a deep interest in how algorithmic systems impact communities of colour in particular and all of our futures more generally.
