We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and inclusive team player to fill the full time, eight-week summer position of HR assistant. Reporting to the human resources advisor, the HR assistant will provide support in the research, maintenance, development and advancement of a wide range of Arts Commons’ HR functions including employment contracts, policies, programs, and full cycle onboarding and offboarding processes. About Arts Commons Arts Commons is a key contributor to the social, economic, cultural and intellectual life and well-being of the citizens of Calgary and are one of Canada’s largest and most vibrant arts centres. Located in the heart of Calgary’s cultural district in the downtown core, the centre occupies a full city block and is home to five theatres and the world-class Jack Singer Concert Hall. Each year, the centre hosts over 1,800 performances and events, including live theatre, concerts, dance productions, readings, public forums, art exhibits, and much more. The resident companies of Arts Commons, including Alberta Theatre Projects, Arts Commons Presents, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Downstage, One Yellow Rabbit, and Theatre Calgary, create, perform, and present a wide range of award-winning and highly acclaimed theatre and concerts each season. Arts Commons also houses rehearsal spaces, a costume and set construction shop, administrative offices, meeting rooms, a cafe, and the centralized Arts Commons Box Office. Key Accountabilities: Assist with recruiting and staffing logistics. Updating, creating, and developing organizational HR policies. Enhancement of the employee onboarding and offboarding process and documentation. Draft general forms, letters, reports and memos as required. Maintaining employee files and the HR filing system. Development of staff recognition program. Updating contracts and general templates as required. Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the HR function. Requirements: Applicants must be registered in, and working towards a human resources degree/diploma program from a recognized post-secondary institution. Experience in HR and business administration an asset. Other desired skills and qualifications include: Strong attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism is of utmost importance Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) A passion for the arts!
