Assistant Set Designer, Flower Brigade

Equinox Vigil is a creative, respectful evening to honour the deceased in creative and meaningful ways. A free, family-friendly event held on September 22, 2018 in Calgary’s Union Cemetery.
The event is produced by a team of artists and technicians. We are seeking an Assistant Set Designer, Flowers to be paid a $250 honourarium.
Work with Design Lead to manage aspects of the flower brigade from acquiring flower and supplies to creating and installing flower garlands both fresh and silk. Working with volunteers in setup and take down, post-event wrap-up including packaging and storage prep.
- Pick-up flowers leading up to the event and on the day of (contacts provided).
- Pick-up supplies as required, a cash budget will be provided.
- Hanging garlands, flower placement decisions during site set up.
- Organize returning volunteer team and potentially recruit new volunteers.
- Expect to work a 12-hour day with food provided and breaks.
Experience in design, fabrication, and handmade projects. Volunteer management, time management and staging of an asset. Must have access to a vehicle (gas reimbursed).
