Our Pre-College Program is taking place between July 8 to August 2, 2019, and we are currently looking for our 2019 participants! Registration and bursary applications are now open. Work with supportive, talented artists, meet new friends, and develop a portfolio of work in the AUArts Pre-College Program. Our Pre-College Program is an accredited program for students 16 to 18 years old who’ve completed either Grade 10, 11 or 12. This month-long, intensive program is held each summer and focuses on building your portfolio, a key element of our Bachelor’s degree application process while giving you a chance to check out campus life at AUArts. The Pre-College Program builds your intellectual, artistic, and practical skills to set you up for success with your post-secondary studies. You get to experience university-level expectations and pacing while earning three AUArts degree credits that count towards a first-year elective course. This program is also recognized by other art schools, and credits are transferable. Schedule: Each week, you will receive 25 hours of instructional time that is supported by additional studio hours after class and evening events. Fine Arts – Two full days in a studio (10 hours each week) Design – Two full days in a studio (10 hours each week) Studio elective – One full day in a studio (five hours each week) During the month, you will also take part in extra activities designed to broaden your horizons and have fun including: Individual portfolio reviews. Field trips to the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, a professional design firm, an artist-run centre or commercial gallery. Evening events: portfolio preparation workshops and life drawing classes. Group exhibition and ceremony.
