Date: June 21, 2019, 7:00 – 9:00pm Location: Arts Commons (205 8th Ave. SE) What: Bach Tots: Performing Arts for Babies, Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers’ Nutcracker (in a Nutshell) Director/Choreographer: Tara Blue We are currently seeking two strong early or mid-career professional dance artists with experience working and interacting with young children aged 0-6 for a new envisioning of Nutcracker (in a Nutshell). The Nutcracker (in a Nutshell) takes babies, toddlers and young children on a whirlwind adventure through the classic holiday ballet The Nutcracker. The short live show (approx. 25 minutes) performed by two dancers is followed by a 20-minute interactive creative movement workshop on stage with the artists. Audition Date: June 21, 2019 Production Team: Producer, Jenny Peters, and director/choreographer, Tara Blue Compensation: $1,500 Production Dates Summer Planning Sessions: TBA (four to six hours) Creation/Rehearsals: November 18 – December 4, 2019 (30 hours) Load in, Tech and Rehearsal Dates: December 5 – 8, 2019, Shane Homes YMCA in Rocky Ridge December 12 – 15, 2019, Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton (Two shows scheduled for mornings and afternoons, load in and tech TBA) (42 hours) Cultural Mandate We encourage submissions from diverse dance artists of all backgrounds, regardless of race, colour, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Skills & Experience: Rehearsals Tech and dress rehearsals Performances Ideal candidates will have: BA dance or similar. Strong collaboration and performance skills. Well-versed in multiple styles of dance including (but not limited to) classical and contemporary forms. Theatre background is an asset. A passion for performance-for-young audiences. Experience working in arts-based education with young children ranging from babies to approximately age six. Video submissions will be accepted if you are unable to attend an audition.
