Deadline for Proposals: Monday, January 14, 2019 Broadcast Lab is an exciting micro-cinema programming opportunity at Arts Commons that is open to all artist across Canada to submit their short films, animations, video art, media art, and short documentaries. Broadcast Lab is one of the only permanent exhibition spaces for film and media in Western Canada and is a unique platform to showcase new experimental films while sharing stories, ideas, and connections about Canadian identity through media and film. Through a curatorial selection process, Broadcast Lab programs up to 24 national film and media artists annually running three months in duration. The media art appears on three television monitors located throughout Arts Commons. Broadcast Lab provides a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse audience as well as the local artistic community of Calgary. Arts Commons receives over 600,000 patrons a year and the +15 walkway is used by thousands of passersby daily and has a broad audience that can include, amongst others: cultural workers, commuters, teachers, children, vulnerable populations, city officials, and artists. This project reaches a diverse audience of all ages; content must be suitable for public spaces. Compensation: Selected Broadcast Lab artist will be compensated with $475 CAD artist fee.
