Communications and Design Coordinator

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Application Deadline: May 3, 2019

The Beltline Urban Mural Project (BUMP) is a community-driven project organized by the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association entering its third year bringing inspiring, eye-catching and powerful street art to the Beltline neighbourhoods.

In the last two years, BUMP installed 15 murals by local artists on buildings in the Beltline. The pilot project drew attention from local news, social media and everyday citizens. Our mural tours were attended by hundreds of people in 2018, and hundreds more attended the alley party that took place during the free BUMP Festival, which also showcased numerous local music artists. The murals are seen by thousands of Calgarians every day.

The BUMP Festival also provided opportunities for developing artists in Calgary to gain valuable experience apprenticing under our mural artists to assist in mural painting.

In its third year, BUMP is getting bigger and better. With a goal of 15 murals to be installed this year, BUMP will catch the eye of the tens of thousands of people who live in, work or visit the Beltline each and every day. The BUMP Festival is a free event and family friendly to help build connections and strengthen our community.

The BUMP Communications and Design Coordinator will manage and create content for BUMP’s media platforms including web, social media and print.

The successful applicant will have strong creative and graphic design skills for producing BUMP posters, print materials, and graphics for digital platforms. In addition to content creation, the position will entail managing content publishing, advertising and updates on all BUMP web and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) platforms. This will also include coordinating with BUMP photographers to share their photographs during the BUMP Festival and mural creation.

Outcomes for the youth will be gaining valuable experience in creating communications campaigns for arts, cultural, and community events programming.
